Lovely tropical Cairns with its palm trees and beautiful warm ocean seas.
We have certainly packed in quite a lot of activities on this tour. Included is a day cruise out to the Great Barrier Reef, a ride on the Karunda Scenic Train and Skyrail and a wonderful 4WD trip into the World Heritage Rainforest.
There is also time to relax, enjoy the sunshine or explore some more at your leisure.
Itinerary
Day 1
DinnerWe go to Auckland to catch our morning flight to Cairns. This is a direct flight and we'll arrive at our hotel around lunchtime.
Day 2
Breakfast, DinnerWe meet our local tour guide and spend the morning exploring all the highlights in and around Cairns. There is a free afternoon to explore more of the city or just spend some time enjoying your beautiful surroundings.
Day 3
Breakfast, DinnerAn exciting day as we first join the historic Kuranda Scenic Train for the journey up to Kuranda Village. We have plenty of time to explore the markets and shops before boarding the Skyrail for a fascinating journey through the tree tops. We finish with a visit to the Tjapakai Aboriginal Culture Park.
Day 4
Breakfast, DinnerA free day today so there's a chance to relax and take in the tropical surroundings. This evening, we go on a Cairns Sunset Cruise and enjoy dinner at Dundee’s Waterfront Restaurant.
Day 5
Breakfast, DinnerWe board our coach and travel north of Cairns to visit Hartley’s Creek Crocodile Farm. Apart from their big toothy friends there is also a large variety of other Australian wildlife. An easy afternoon as we explore the lovely resort of Port Douglas and other northern beaches.
Day 6
Breakfast, DinnerToday, we go on a Great Barrier Reef Cruise. We experience the breathtaking coral reef in pristine blue waters teaming with its colourful and unusual marine life. For anyone adventurous, there is an opportunity to go snorkelling.
Day 7
Breakfast, DinnerThis morning, we go on a half-day Hummer tour for a 4WD adventure through the World Heritage Rainforest. Along the way see the giant Curtain Fig Tree. The afternoon is free to do more exploring or enjoy some peace and quiet while enjoying the sunshine.
Day 8
BreakfastOur wonderful week in Cairns comes to an end today. There is some free time this morning before we head off to the airport for our afternoon flight back home. This is a direct flight to Auckland.
